This is another presentation from the Elgin Alive Series, and another in a series of podcasts recorded live at Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, The Car of the Future explores the technology of the electric car and other possibilites in alternative transportation.

The audience was treated to a film, got to see an electric car just outside the library, and also participated in a discussion and Q&A session.  The discussion was lead by Rich Hirshberg, Bill Bailey and Eric Schnieder.  A lot of great information and thoughtful questions.

In our 3rd and last segment of The One Watt House, we hear from a representative of NiCor Gas and a short Q & A including the other presenters of the evening.

Here in Part 2 of our One Watt House presentation, we hear from Commonwealth Edison. Energy efficiciency, conserving, and steps we can all take to enhance the sustainability of our desires to live more green.

Our September 2008 show, is a recording of a live presentation.  This is the first segment of three, featuring speakers covering topics from the nuts n bolts design and data of creating a truly energy efficent home, to talks from representatives of Commonwealth Edison and NiCor.

Here in our final segment of our June 17th, 2008 program, we open  up the floor to our audience for some discussion with our speakers.

On June 17th, the ECN hosted an interesting evening of presenters.   Kyla Jacobsen, Water System Superintendent for the City of Elgin, followed by Jeff Freeman, VP Engineering Enterprises Inc, and Tish Powell, Administrative Superintendent of the City of Elgin's Public Works.

In Part One: Dave Kaptain introduced the program and speakers. In this first installment, we hear the audio from a video presentation. The audio works quite well all on its own, with valuable information.

Each segment/speaker has their own podcast, with a final segment (Part 5) became a Q & A time with the audience.

 

 

 

We wind up our four part podcast presentation with Jennifer Fritz Williams, City of Elgin Preservation Specialist.  Jennifer covers a variety of programs, do's and don'ts, things to watch out for, and helpful web sites while talking us through the process of preserving our beautiful older homes, with sustainability in mind.

Again, the ECN would like to thank The Grand Victoria Foundation, the Gail Borden Public Library, and the City of Elgin for their support and collaboration in our Elgin Alive Community Town Hall presentations.

Mark Billings interviews Deb Perryman, 2004 Illinois Teacher of the Year, and some of her students on the topic of climate change, their hopes, fears, concerns and proactive plans.  Deb's Environmental Science Class #141 have been participating in a variety of strategies to raise awareness and make a difference.
